About Steve

Steve is the former Head of Factual at the ABC and an award-winning television producer, director, writer and media executive. He has delivered hundreds of hours of programs.

Steve launched Barking Mad Productions to create and deliver premium documentary and factual programs for the world built on integrity and quality.

At the ABC, Steve set the vision and creative strategy for the award-winning department. He built a team responsible for the development, commissioning and delivery of creative excellence that entertained and surprised audiences. Many titles brought acclaim, and awards and ignited national conversations including:

Before the ABC, Steve was an executive producer at CJZ, Ambience Entertainment and Landmark Television. His credits include:

  • Parkinson: The Shane Warne Interview UKTV Australia.

Steve also enjoyed a decade as a producer and executive producer at The Nine Network. He created the documentary trilogy, Bronte’s Story, Beyond Bronte and Bronte: Tears to Triumph. He also created, directed and served as executive producer on the three part documentary series, The Winning Spirit, which told the story of elite Australian athletes bound for the Sydney Olympic and Paralympic games.

Further back in time, Steve was a newspaper journalist in Sydney and on national newspapers in the UK.

He’s the co-author of two books, Bronte’s Story: Tears, Trials and Triumphs and Great Southern Land.
